Great First Hut Trip for Babies!

We had a lovely 2-night stay at the hut in the heart of summer, towards the end of July. It was our baby's first hut trip at 8 months old and was a perfect mix of rustic and amenities for our little family. I would love to visit again in winter and ski out the door!

Amazing Hut & Views!

Our group had an amazing stay at Aladdin's Lamp Hut! The amenities were more than we could have hoped for - a cozy place on rainy afternoons, a field of wildflowers, and a great kitchen. The San Juan's are a busy place, but Kennan's property provided a little oasis from the crowds with some amazing views of the surrounding mountains. We can't wait for our next stay!

Perfect

We came for a summer visit. This hut is thoughtful in every way. It’s hard to call it a hut, because you have everything you need to be comfortable and just take in where you are. The views from everywhere in the hut are amazing and even better as you explore more. You are so close to town if you need it and plenty of the best hikes around. Know that this place is even better than the pictures and you will be so happy you came.

Magic in the Mountains!

A group of 6 women gathered for a 3-night Slumber Party Coaching Retreat. We were all new to each other so this was a gutsy thing to pull off. The magic of Aladdin's Lamp worked on us. We successfully melded and bonded, we delved into our thoughts and emotions, and explored our values with regard to how we are living our lives. We enjoyed our respite getaway. We especially enjoyed: the views; the flora and fauna; the starry skies; the creek; the peace. The sleeping arrangement worked nicely for us. The kitchen and grill aided our meal creations. We took advantage of the fabulous weather for dinner on the deck and sky-gazing at night! The separation of spaces at Aladdin's Lamp Hut worked very well -- including for the interior outhouse. Thank you for providing such a great place to unwind! The Slumber Party Gals

Always a peaceful stay

The scenic view, fresh mountain air and wildlife made the experience fun once again. This time last year the manager was nice enough to warn us that we would need to bring in our own potable water during the early spring, even though they knew they would lose out on a rental. This year we were more equipped to deal with packing in water because our youngest is now bigger. The cabin is always clean and well-stocked with wood. The cabin was and continues to be a great escape from the city. If you're looking for a quiet mountain cabin to enjoy with your family this is the one.

Epic stay

I loved everything about my stay, I only wish it would have been a little bit longer! Just enough amenities to be comfortable but still get away to something that feels campingish and away from it all. absolutely be back again. ( Maybe I will time it to get snowed in for a week next time!) Great place thanks for sharing it with others!

Beautiful hut, beautiful location

The Aladdin's Lamp Hut is a true gem in the Colorado backcountry that's worth every penny and more. It's easily accessible and the inside is very nice and comfortable. Even with eight people the hut doesn't feel terribly crowded. It has all the basic necessities one could ask for and the surrounding terrain is absolutely stunning no matter what time of year you choose to visit. Gorgeous views for miles in every direction! Great area for skiing and snowboarding as well with limitless opportunities for fun runs. I have fallen in love with this place and will most definitely return!

Amazing Cabin!

We loved our stay at Aladdin's Lamp Hut. The cabin is set far enough from the road that we felt like we were in our own personal remote wilderness area. The woodstove and well-stocked firewood kept us cozy on the cold nights. We experienced sun, rain, snow, and beautiful fall colors on this trip. A beautiful setting, and the perfect base camp for exploring the Silverton area. Can't wait to stay here again! Joe & Lauren

Very nice place to get away

We really enjoyed our one-week stay at Aladdin's Lamp Hut. It was the prime of Autumn weather and we found the Hut to be very adequate for our needs. The views are better than we expected and the privacy from 550 is tremendous. Kennan is a gracious host and went out of his way to make everything nice. The Hut is very clean and everything you need is convenient. Would love to stay again!

Great weekend away!

We had a great weekend at Aladdin's Lamp Hut. Our only complaint is that we couldn't stay longer. :) The hut was very well-equipped and comfortable. It was perfect for our group of 2 moms and 3 kids (ages 9-11) and had plenty of room for additional people if the rest of our families had been able to join us. The kids had a great time building snow forts and sledding out in front of the hut. We went on a nice ski right from the hut and explored the area across Hwy 550. We could have spent hours tooling around over there. We also scoped out some kid-friendly, low angle terrain up at the top of Molas Pass that we plan to explore on our next trip. We have been to Aladdin's Lamp hut in both summer and winter and loved it in both seasons! We are already looking forward to planning our next trip back.

My Wish Was Granted

Our stay at Aladdin’s Lamp Hut was delightful. The short hike from the parking area brought us up to the hut, which sits beneath a castle-like peak. The hut was spacious, with much natural light coming through its windows. Its wood stove was remarkably efficient; one night, we simply didn’t need to use it, even in winter. Its various systems were well-planned and efficient, making our stay comfortable and easy. I’d recommend a stay here to anyone.

Fancy hut!

We are 2 couples from Telluride who enjoyed a Valentines trip to the Alladins lamp hut. We all have stated in some pretty rustic ski huts around the world and we’re happy to stay in such a fancy one! An easy and short approach from the parking area was a big bonus. We enjoyed 2 nights, cozy and warm. We love that the outhouse is kind of indoors. We had a lovely, sunny ski tour and even saw a beautiful lynx sneaking through the forest. We wined & dined, howled at the full moon, and enjoyed the simple pleasures of being away from it all! Wonderfully outfitted & appointed in an AMAZING setting

Spent a night (far too short...will do 2 nights next time!) with husband, 6 1/2 yr old daughter and a few close friends to celebrate a birthday. The hut was absolutely amazing! Beautifully built, adorned, supplied and taken care of...honestly expected we'd be "roughing it" a bit more! (not complaining!) The wood stove was more than adequate to heat the hut, including the wee hours of the morning when it was coldest, without a lot of fuss or attention/wood restocking needed. The kitchen was stocked well for cooking a meal, with plenty of pots/pans, utensils, plates/bowls etc. We used the cooktop inside, did not use the grill but it would have been so easy and convenient to do so. Plenty of large pots for snowmelt on the stove, although we opted to haul up drinking water. Given the short walk up from the vehicle parking location it was not an issue to haul a few heavier/cumbersome items like a 5 gallon drinking jug by sled. This short trail also made it easy for a few members of our group with different abilities to access the hut - snow shoes were adequate and short enough distance to accommodate those who don't normally venture into the winter woods! The pit toilet was the "nicest I've seen in a while" according to 1 member of our group. It is separated from the main living area enough to not notice, but also really appreciated that you don't need to go outside at all to access! Especially in the middle of the night in mid-winter! The night time sky was a highlight, absolutely amazing star gazing from the front deck - and from the amazing floor to ceiling bedroom windows! Sleeping quarters were comfortable and cozy, definitely no separation from others (as expected from pictures) so make sure you like who you invite along/bring ear plugs ;) There were games and a few toys in the living room bench drawers, which we enjoyed playing and were not expected. Great communication with owners. Overall just a great experience and a beautiful gem of a hut! Thanks for opening up your special place to others to enjoy!

Easy & cozy mountain getaway

We live in Durango and had a wonderful girls getaway to honor our dear friend who passed away earlier this year and loved these mountains. Staying at Alladins Lamp Hut felt so special and it was so easy compared to tent camping which gave us plenty of time to spend together and share wine, stories and meals cooked in the kitchen. The bonfire at night was also a highlight. We plan to make this an annual trip and hopefully next year we will stay for even longer. It’s a well thought out design, very clean and organized and supplied with all the dishes and tools you need for cooking. I also love that the outhouse is an “in-house” and you don’t have to go outside to pee in the middle of the night!

Stupendous Find!

Our family loves this area of Colorado and was thrilled to find this place to stay - everything you needed but nothing you don't (three cheers for no cell coverage!). It is in the woods, but with amenities that made it comfortable, and close enough to town that we could restock or get to wifi in 10 minutes. The design of the structure is incredibly well thought out. The solar power is phenomenal, the oven worked great, the "in"house bathroom was such an luxury compared to many of our campsites. I do wish you couldn't hear the noise from 550 but it's understandable. Overall, this is a "glamping" site for folks who are used to less amenities when camping, and a "we can do this" opportunity for those just trying out being more rustic. We'll be back!
