Spent a night (far too short...will do 2 nights next time!) with husband, 6 1/2 yr old daughter and a few close friends to celebrate a birthday. The hut was absolutely amazing!
Beautifully built, adorned, supplied and taken care of...honestly expected we'd be "roughing it" a bit more! (not complaining!)
The wood stove was more than adequate to heat the hut, including the wee hours of the morning when it was coldest, without a lot of fuss or attention/wood restocking needed.
The kitchen was stocked well for cooking a meal, with plenty of pots/pans, utensils, plates/bowls etc. We used the cooktop inside, did not use the grill but it would have been so easy and convenient to do so. Plenty of large pots for snowmelt on the stove, although we opted to haul up drinking water. Given the short walk up from the vehicle parking location it was not an issue to haul a few heavier/cumbersome items like a 5 gallon drinking jug by sled. This short trail also made it easy for a few members of our group with different abilities to access the hut - snow shoes were adequate and short enough distance to accommodate those who don't normally venture into the winter woods!
The pit toilet was the "nicest I've seen in a while" according to 1 member of our group. It is separated from the main living area enough to not notice, but also really appreciated that you don't need to go outside at all to access! Especially in the middle of the night in mid-winter!
The night time sky was a highlight, absolutely amazing star gazing from the front deck - and from the amazing floor to ceiling bedroom windows! Sleeping quarters were comfortable and cozy, definitely no separation from others (as expected from pictures) so make sure you like who you invite along/bring ear plugs ;)
There were games and a few toys in the living room bench drawers, which we enjoyed playing and were not expected. Great communication with owners.
Overall just a great experience and a beautiful gem of a hut! Thanks for opening up your special place to others to enjoy!
